Relocating with the Children

If you are going to relocate your child from your residence at the time of the final order, then you will be required to give notice to the other parent. This notice must be within sixty (60) days of moving and in writing. The notice must state the reason for the move, the new location, address, telephone number, and the date you propose to move. You should propose a long distance visitation schedule. The parent remaining in his/her home at the time of the final decree must object within thirty (30) days of receiving the notice.  Absent any objection, the custodial parent is by law allowed to change the residence of the minor children without court involvement.
